KBC Season 4 to See More Money & More Fun

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 11:08 AM PDT

The quite popular and perhaps one of the longest running games shows on Indian television, Kaun Banega Crorepati is back to hit your screens this October. The quiz show will be hosted by Bollywood's Big B Mr. Amitabh Bachchan who promises that this season of KBC has a lot to offer to the audience as well the participants.

Kaun Banega Crorepati had started with the final bet being a win of Rs1 crore. But now the bet is being placed higher. The final question is worth 5 times more! Yes, the final question will get the participant a whopping sum of Rs5 crore! Taking recession, inflation and all things similar I guess this is one price hike Indians will like!

The format of questions remaining the same, there will be 12 questions with a winning prize of Rs1 crore each except the last one worth Rs5 crore. The helplines are the same except one-the '50:50' option that narrowed down the choices to 2 for the participant will longer exist. Instead we will have a new helpline-'Ask an Expert'.

Sounds similar to 'Phone a friend' doesn't it? Also there is a new ‘double dip' option that will allow the user to have second go at an answer. A bit like '50:50' again.

Sidhharth Basu of Big Synergy (producer) along with Big B today announced the changes to KBC Season 4 at a press conference. The Kaun Banega Crorepati show ill go on air on Sony TV starting from Amitabh Bachchan's birthday October 11th. The megastar has promised the viewers a crispier and faster KBC4. (One question Mr. Bachachan, does 'faster' show mean lesser ads?)

So fans of KBC keep yourselves free on October 11 as the most famous game show in the history of India- Kaun Banega Crorepati will begin its 4th saga.

Nokia C3

The classic designed Nokia C3-01 has finally hit the Indian markets. The uniquely designed touch-cum-type handset boasts of many features that warranty to make the phone another great Nokia success.

What makes the handset classy and easy to use is the regular 12-buttoned keypad that accompanies the touch screen handset. Ergonomically this feature appeals a lot to the users as they no longer have to free both their hands to browse or type something on their touch phones.

The regular keypad allows easy messaging & gives the comfort of having a fully functional keyboard on a touch phone. The large display above the keypad also means that those familiar with the touch type handsets won't have any problems with the Nokia C3-01 either.

Unlike the sliding arrangement found in many Nokia sets like the Nokia E-7, the candybar design is again a plus point here. It's quite similar in make to the Nokia X3-02 touch and type mobile. Only the X3-02 has an additional column of keys in its keypad.

The Nokia C3-01 is expected to be on sale in mid-October this year & the price tag is an affordable Rs9000. The other technical details of this great set include an awesome 5MP camera as well as hi-speed data connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology.

The brand name as well as ergonomically designed Nokia C3-01 is sure to leave a great impression on critics. Nokia it seems is leaving no stone unturned to set the market ablaze again as other sub-brands like Micromax have started wooing the Indian consumers. Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai to go off air after 3rd anniversary

Bidaai

Bidaai

Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai a flagship show on Starplus brought about immense recognition for each and every character that formed a part of the show but the best part is that the show has crossed a breath taking milestone of 700 episodes within a span of 3 years and is now set to take an adieu from the audience.

Insider sources revealed about the mega hit show that Bidaai will soon go off air because of the fall in TRP's that have reached a decent level of 4 and also the length of the serial that is extremely notable. Hence in light to this the production house has been under negotiations with the channel about the shift of timings or the complete closure of the serial, whichever case seems more pliable for the channel.

Sources also revealed that the serial had an option of changing the time slot to afternoon but the channel and production group instead finalized on the decision to bring the show to a halt after the completion of three years on the 8th of October. The ending D day is scheduled for the 13th of November.

When the producer was contacted for further insight into the issue he did not give into any accounts about anything related to the closure.

Another close associate of the show Vibha Chibber said that the rumors are making rounds but nothing is confirmed as of now. The current storyline that the serial is working on is the separation of Alekh from his own daughter because of Sakshi.

Big Boss season 4 the reality with a change

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 07:37 AM PDT

Big Boss season 4 will come ahead with a new wave of entertainment as not just the host has been changed to Salman Khan but also the show will be cast on a whole new channel with whole new ways. Insider sources revealed that the format of the show this year will be a little different from the previous ways the show undertook.

While during the previous season it was Amitabh Bachchan as the host of this reality show all dressed in formal wear, this year it will be Salman with a more casual look. The language that Salman will adopt to connect to the common audience and inmates will also be pretty similar to his super cool dressing style with a hint of casualness that will work for the common masses.

The Channel has also worked very hard to maintain the names of the 13 contestants as an absolutely secretive aspect this time. There is not even the slightest hint as to who could be among the controversial 13 inmates that will occupy the house this season.

Media tried to make a rough evaluation of who could be the cat in the Big Boss bag and they stammered across a few famous names that include Sneha Ullal, Dimpy Mahajan, Chunky Pandey, Avika Gor, Sangeeta Bijlani, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Tiwari, Sara Khan, Shaan, Shiney Ahuja, Shweta Tiwary, Rajesh Khanna,Simone Singh and Vinod Khanna, but their no confirmation yet from the show producers as to whether the toss is accurate or not.

Akshay Kumar to bring together the two king khans on the same platform

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 07:07 AM PDT

Akshay Kumar is know for his dare devilry and acts that involve turning impossible to possible but this time, the actor has once again proved this aspect but in a whole new light by asking film fraternity people like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan to join the cause he is supporting in the Olympic bharat that is a kind of games league for people who have different capabilities.

The biggest buzz is that possibly the two Khans will come on the same platform along with Akhsay to create magic at the event. The enmity between the two Khans is a thing of the past now wherein recently the two have been seen gelling together well at a variety of events including the ramp walk that the two shared for a humane cause that required B-Town initiative.

Now since Akki has decided to reach Salman and Shahrukh with the cause backed help, there is a fair share of possibility that Salllu will not flag a red sign for the event. While SRK it seems will enthusiastically agree to be a part of the initiative as he is known for the love of sports.

Akki and SRK constantly keep in touch with one another and share a close bond; it was just a few days back that SRK hit the sets of Tees Mar Khan, a film that stars Akshay in the lead role. Akki told media that the confirmation from all sides is yet to come but he is indeed looking forward to a positive response.

Splendor Pro to win back Hero Honda’s diminished glory

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 03:36 AM PDT

Splendor Pro

Hero Honda seems all set to cash in on the fantasy of the youth with the launch of its new Splendor Pro. Latest addition to the entry level motorcycle segment, this next generation version of its best selling product is expected to boost the sales as well as the market share of India's largest two wheeler manufacturer.

The time of the launch of the new Splendor Pro holds great significance to the company. Off late, its market share has been threatened by Bajaj Auto during the start of the fiscal year. The 100 cc segment that boasts of 73 percent of the total two wheeler sales, received a severe jolt as the sales went down from 82 percent to less than 70 per cent.

The rival's Discover had played an important role in diminishing Hero Honda's demand in the market. Therefore Honda chose to cash in on the festive mood of the upcoming season to fight back restore its superiority.

Anil Dua, senior vice president (marketing and sales), Hero Honda too expressed his confidence in capturing the market again.

Meanwhile, the new version has been launched under three forms- Splendor plus, NXG and Pro. They come with improvements in fuel economy, headlight and battery as well as a better engine. There is also a slight increase in the price as well. However, changes as a whole remain quite nominal.

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 03:28 AM PDT

Ayodhya verdict

Now that the way has been cleared the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court is expected pronounce the Ayodhya verdict on Thursday. All the parties to the case welcomed the apex court ruling rejecting the deferment.

Major political parties like the Congress and the BJP expressed their satisfaction too and requested for calm.

Mukul Rohtagi, counsel of Tripathi had argued that the Centre has been largely inactive in finding a solution to the issue and that the Court should try for an innovative settlement. It was just the last week that the Union was made a party to the dispute following which the Attorney General appealed for an end to the uncertainty surrounding the issue.

Babri Masjid verdict deferment decision to be pronounced; AG appeals to end uncertainty

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 02:47 AM PDT

AYODHYA

As per latest reports, the Supreme Court shall pronounce its decision on the petition for deferment of the verdict on the Ayodhya case at 2PM on Tuesday. This development occurred after Attorney General G E Vahanvati appealed to a three-judge special bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia that uncertainty regarding the issue should come to an end.

The AG added that a settlement would have been the most apt solution but it has not taken place and the uncertainty should be prevented. He also defended arguments that the Government has not been pro-active in solving the dispute.

Meanwhile, the special bench reserved the decision for the specified time after a series of discussions with the various parties to the case. All the counsels with the exception of Nirmohi Akhara were against the deferment plea that argued the dispute be left to an out of court settlement since it was an emotional issue.

Mukul Rohatgi, counselor of petitioner Ramesh Chandra Tripathy argued that three of the judges belonging to the Lucknow bench also had advocated a mediated settlement before fixing September 24 as the deadline.

However, most of the parties disagreed with Tripathy's viewpoint and some even termed him as a 'non-serious party'. They argued that out of court settlement efforts have been tried several times in past but were met with failures.

Former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee, counsel of one of the parties said “judicial function cannot be made hostage to consequences.” The apex court judges R V Raveendran and Justices H L Gokhale themselves had a difference of opinion on the deferment plea before finally staying the September 24 verdict.

Endhiran: Chennai & Andhra Fans Goes Crazy for Rajinikant, The Robot

Posted: 28 Sep 2010 02:07 AM PDT

Finally, the most expensive cinematic dream of Rajinikant along with Aishwarya is to hit the big screen on this October.

The movie is titled as Endhiran and the Hindi version is dubbed under the name of Robot. The movie is considered to be the most expensive project till now. The total cost of the movie is estimated around 160 crores, making it the most expensive movie venture.

The movie is filled with the most advanced and tech-savvy stunts and the idea of the movie is also very innovative. As the name suggests, Robot or Endhiran,  the plot revolves around the world of robots and human beings.

If we go by the promos of the movie, the flick looks too fresh and advanced and has already become a rage amongst the masses. Rajinikant’s last movie, Shivaji was a huge hit amongst the masses and was a major blockbuster in Andhra Pradesh and across the country. Rajinikant is surely loved by all his fans and revered too.

But at the same point of time, Rajinikant’s movie Robot would have to face stiff competition from the two movies which are releasing simultaneously. One is starring Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja and the second one is Junior NTR’s Brindavanam. So here, we see some sort of disruption in Robot’s popularity. Both these movies have set their budgets around 40 crores and would surely have good number audiences too.

“If they are very good films, this (Robot) will surely get hit because the Mahesh Babu and NTR films will have their own audience,” says producer Suresh Babu.

Since the last two years, the scenario of audiences and screen has not been so hot like this. Around 650 out of the 2500 cinemas in Andhra Pradesh saw shut shop.

Another problem which might be faced by Rajinikant’s movie is that it could be compared to the cult science fiction Harry Porter and the film series. Though, the two movies are quite different in the genres but still the ‘science fiction’ similarity might raise some sort of comparison.

But at this point of time, the movie is singing all hunky dory songs. The movie is opening around 2000 screens all across the country and the audiences are too ecstatic about the movie.

“I’m disappointed as I didn’t get tickets for first day first show.” one of the fans said.

Swine Flu Vaccine: Facts and information from U.S. Centers for Disease Prevention and Control

Posted: 27 Sep 2010 11:50 PM PDT

The flu season of 2010-11 is about to begin and the public is being requested to take note of certain fact and resort to necessary vaccinations. According to official reports last year's flu was predominantly the H1N1 or Swine flu, and the victims were largely children and pregnant women. This year's season is predicted to be a more typical one with the elderly being targeted the most.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Prevention and Control say that flu seasons are unpredictable. It however supports the view that the upcoming season would be harder on senior citizens.

In a typical year majority of the population that gets affected are the elderly. In the wake of this, the CDC has approved a new High-Dose Fluzone vaccine for seniors made by Sanofi Pasteur with higher doses of antigen, in order to initiate better response to vaccination since immunity levels are low in seniors.

It shall be single shot vaccine unlike last year's which had two shots and shall be effective against H1N1 virus, the Perth H3N2 virus and the B Brisbane virus. In addition there won't be any shortage of the vaccines. Last year, high risk groups were given the shots first and the others were made to wait.

CDC confirms the vaccines are available in abundance post the vaccination boom last year. It urged all above the age of six months to go for vaccination unless they have any allergies against the medicine. The vaccines shall be available from the doctors, county clinics, pharmacies as well as supermarkets.

Regarding the administration of the shots, CDC said that a new law has been brought forth that permits trained pharmacists to vaccinate the adults.
