De-Personalize to Sell Your Home Fast

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 02:00 AM PST

While you are preparing to sell your home fast, you may be brushing upon all kinds of home selling tips and taking in lots of great advice for what you can do to get your home sold soon…but what you may not consider is the way you can think to speed up your home sale.

Some people who are selling a home find that they can’t quite put all the great advice they receive into practice because in their minds they are still holding onto the thought that the home belongs to them and no one else.

It can help if you start to de-personalize your home. All of those lovely things that make your Maryland real estate homey for you will not evoke the same feelings in a prospective buyer.

You don’t want a buyer to spend so much time wondering about you that they forget to really pay attention as they tour your property. You want buyers to envision themselves living there; your photos and most personal possessions can get in the way. Putting away family photos can go a long way towards helping buyers see themselves in your home.

Some homes that are for sale are filled with possessions that prevent buyers from seeing themselves in them; other homes have things that just don't sit well with buyers for some reason. This can include items that show affiliations (sorority/fraternity, civic groups) and things that buyers don't find humorous.

Google Nexus S Gets Its First OTA Update – GRH78

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 10:35 PM PST

Just after a week of its launch, the Google Nexus S is getting its first software update over the air. The OTA (Over-The-Air) update weighs in at 1.9MB and carries the build number GRH78, up from the previous GRH55 build number. There is no official change-log but looking at the size of the OTA, don't expect wonders. Apparently, the update mainly fixes some bugs and 'Maps fixes'.

Nexus_S

MoDaCo owner Paul posted on XDA with regard to the OTA update –:

Super quick GRH78 analysis – changes to framework.jar, kernel and Maps.apk. That’s about it.

Nexus S owners can either wait for the update to be pushed to their phone or enter *#*#checkin#*#* manually and get the update.

Nokia N900 Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 11:59 AM PST

The modding community has done it again! The popular NIITDroid team has managed to port Android 2.3 Gingerbread on the Nokia N900. While the N900 runs on Maemo out-of-the-box, the phone has a huge modding potential. Due to this, various OS's including Android 2.1, Android 2.2 and MeeGo OS have been ported to it. clip_image001

Most features of the phone including Wi-Fi, Sound and 3G are working on Android 2.3. However, the Android 2.3 ROM for the N900 still contains some major bugs which make it unstable for a day-to-day use.

As of now, the ROM is not yet out for public consumption. The developers of the ROM have promised to release an experimental Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for the N900 before the end of this year. They have also promised to release a fully stable Android 2.2.1 ROM for the N900 by Christmas.

Download Hero Of Sparta For Android For Free

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 05:59 AM PST

Remember the Gameloft Twitter Advent promotion under which the company made Dungeon Hunters for Android available as a free download for 24 hours? Today, continuing their Twitter Advent promotion Gameloft is giving away Hero Of Sparta game for Android as a free download for the next 24 hours. While the game is available for free download, the official page of the game still lists it for $4.99.

Users who want to grab their copy of Hero Of Sparta for free need to visit this link from their handset to download the game. On visiting the link from their handset, users will be prompted to download and install a 22KB '100% Free HD Game' apk file.

The app  then opens up a webpage, which looks exactly like the page from where you downloaded the 22KB apk file, from where users can download the apk file of the game for free. The apk file of the game is 3.07MB big and after installing the game it downloads another 66MB of additional game data.

Here is a video of Hero Of Sparta in action –:

Trying any other method/link to download the game may not prove successful given Gameloft's crappy store. There is another twist to the tale as well here. Not all Android handsets are capable of running Hero Of Sparta. The selected handsets which are capable of playing Hero Of Sparta includes the Google Nexus One, Samsung Galaxy S, Motorola Droid and the HTC EVO 4G. Readers can find the whole list of compatible devices here.

Opera Launches Widgets Runtime for Android

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 12:25 AM PST

Opera As we enter a new decade, web-apps are shaping up to challenge traditional system dependent applications. Google is possibly at the forefront of this change with its highly anticipated Chrome OS. However, several other players are keen to leverage the benefits offered by web apps. Back in October, Opera joined the Wholesale Applications Community, while Mozilla announced its new Open Web App platform. Now, Opera has released a preview build of its Widget runtime for Android, which is based on the Wholesale Applications Community (WAC) 1.0 specification.

WAC is an alliance of the world’s leading mobile operators and OEMs, such as Vodafone, Verizon, AT&T, Samsung, Huawei and others. Its fundamental aim is to promote the use of web technologies to enable developers to write an application which can execute on a web runtime upon multiple mobile device platforms. The benefit of using WAC specification is that the same widget will be able to run on multiple phones, irrespective of the underlying operating system. This makes things easier for both developers and publishers.

The Widgets runtime released by Opera allows you to download and run existing widgets from widgets.opera.com. Opera’s widgets are platform independent, and already work on all popular desktop platforms including Windows, UNIX and Mac. With WAC Runtime, they will now run even on your mobile phones.

WAC 1.0 devices and storefronts are scheduled to launch at the Mobile World Congress 2011.

NADRA Offers Branchless Banking Solutions to Banks, Telcos is a post from: ProPakistani

nadra thumb NADRA Offers Branchless Banking Solutions to Banks, TelcosNADRA Technologies Ltd (NTL) has designed an automated system for financial institutions and telecom operators to equip their branchless banking with currency transactions of e-Sahulat touch points.

This was stated by Deputy Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik on the occasion of signing ceremony between Bank Alfalah and NADRA Technologies on the joint project of e-Sahulat Branchless Banking.

Under the agreement, NADRA will act as super agent of Bank Alfalah offering them their e-Sahulat outlets for Branchless Banking activities.

Deputy Chairman said the e-Sahulat is a secured commercial platform for money transactions with its best automated technology solution.

"An average 7 million monthly transactions are being executed through public-private partnership with NADRA's expertise and infrastructure, he added.

NADRA Technologies is in process of transforming this platform into National Smart Service Platform for e-commerce where organizations can utilize e-Sahulat touch points for cash in and cash out transactions. This arrangement will help commercial banks and telecom operators to extend branchless banking concept through e-Sahulat without raising any infrastructure and saving Capital and Operational cost, thus creating a Win-Win situation for all parties.

It is expected that the technology will facilitate a significant section of public especially in rural areas to carry out branchless banking activities and will meet the government objective to spread the branchless banking outreach to unbanked and poor of the poor population.

The e-Sahulat scheme was launched in May 2008. Since then, it has been gaining popularity in urban and rural areas for transaction of miscellaneous payments such as utility bills, cell phone balance recharge.

Besides, it has provided business opportunities for many educated unemployed people with very minimal and affordable investment.

Cellular Operators Stand Side-by-Side at KUJ Grand Gala

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 06:53 AM PST

Cellular Operators Stand Side-by-Side at KUJ Grand Gala is a post from: ProPakistani

The cellular phone operators are always indulged in stiff competition with each other whether it is about service tariffs, or TV commercials. But in an exclusive event, these operators stand face-to-face at festival of Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastoor) held here in Karachi.

Telenor Pakistan was the foremost to sponsor the KUJ Grand Gala as major sponsor of the event. Besides, Ufone and Zong maintained their position as the co-sponsor of the event. Whereas Mobilink and Warid were out of the scene.

The daylong fun fair mostly attended by journalists along with their families was the marketing and sales event for these operators as a large number of people joined the representative of the cellular operators at their stalls to cash in on their offers.

Telenor Pakistan had set up an attracting platform for the attendees of the gala. The team members offered Gifts of SIMs and free airtime through balloting.

Zong, with its theme "Say it All" has offered a large number of participants to say all to it with its new handsets, Karachi and 100 pe 100 offers promotion scheme.

Ufone strategy was quite smart as it was limited to promote its post-paid packages and sparkling blackberry handsets.

Representatives of these operators also attended and participated in the event.
Moazzam Ali Khan of Ufone, Sohaib Mustafa of Telenor and Khurram Zia of Zong were seen busy in networking with Karachi based journalists.

Mozzam Alik Khan and Sohaib Mustafa were granted souvenir by Hockey star Sohail Abbas.

Letters to Editor: Why Not to Trust Local Online Retailers!

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 12:44 AM PST

Letters to Editor: Why Not to Trust Local Online Retailers! is a post from: ProPakistani

Another reason why not trust to local online retailers with your personal details: They will breach your privacy, and will bombard your inbox with un-metered SPAM messages, each day.

Pakistan's e-commerce industry is struggling hard to become a recognized industry. However, at this time of hardship, there are few elements which are destroying industry's repute and their businesses by Spamming inboxes.

Mostly the buyers in Pakistan don't feel comfortable with online retailers. They greatly hesitate to share their credit card information due to mistrust, while others get confused over warranty claims and/or quality of products.

Besides the trust factor, let me give u another reason that may hinder local buyer to do business with local online retailers.

I did a mistake two and half years ago when I ordered an item from “symbiostec.net “, a local online retailer. I am not going to beat the matter that they sold be B-grade product- which they did in fact, but the real trouble for me is that for the last 2 years I am receiving spam email from them, very regularly.

The worst thing is that they send email from different IDs (Check below given screenshot) and each morning I end up adding a new Email address in my spam list.

symbiostecnetbreachspri thumb Letters to Editor: Why Not to Trust Local Online Retailers!

If they call it a newsletter I find no option to opt-out of it.

I am fed up of all this, Really.

An Upcoming Package: 60 Paisas/30 Sec

Posted: 22 Dec 2010 12:15 AM PST

An Upcoming Package: 60 Paisas/30 Sec is a post from: ProPakistani

Another good news for Mobile users: A cellular company has reportedly worked the feasibility of a package priced at 60 Paisas per 30 second, to all networks, and yes it would be without daily charges.

This month we saw packages from Telenor, Mobilink with 49 Paisas per 30 second and 45 Paisas per 30 seconds respectively, in response to which Ufone offered 30 Paisas per 20 second package as well. But the thing that customers didn't like about all these packages were the 'Daily Charges'

We have heard that this upcoming package of 60 paisas per 30 second package would be without daily rental.

If revealed, this would be the first package in 18 months to beat Telenor's 63 paisas per 30 second rate. Though we have some hidden packages that offer even lesser rates.

Zong Plans to Develop More Solar-Powered Cell Sites

Posted: 21 Dec 2010 10:16 PM PST

Zong Plans to Develop More Solar-Powered Cell Sites is a post from: ProPakistani

zong logo Zong Plans to Develop More Solar Powered Cell SitesKeeping in view the biggest challenge of energy crisis, China Mobile is focusing on the development of solar-powered cell sites to overcome this dilemma in Pakistan, reported 'The News' citing a Chinese official.

Currently, the telecom giant has the largest solar-powered telecommunication network in the country.

More than 150 cell sites are installed at different locations making ZONG the number one company in terms of solar cell sites, said Qian Li, CEO of China Mobile Pakistan-ZONG on the occasion of recent visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to Pakistan.

"The brotherly relations between China and Pakistan have become legendary and this is visible not just between the two governments, but also between the people of the two countries," he said.

"To further the cause of this friendship, China Mobile resolves to help the government of Pakistan by bringing more Chinese investors to the country."

More than 150 businessmen accompanied the Chinese prime minister during his recent visit to Pakistan.

Their main objective was to explore opportunities and to further enhance the existing bilateral relations in the field of trade and commerce between the two countries.

"Sino-Pak friendship and strategic relations have earned great reverence and allegiance for Pakistan by China. As a result, China Mobile is interested to expand its operations in Pakistan. China Mobile has made a very strong impact since its launch and the company is here to stay." After becoming the fastest growing network of Pakistan, ZONG has recorded 500 percent growth in terms of number of cell sites during the last three years, the official said, adding that the company has now over 5,600 cell sites.

Pakistan is a huge market, full of opportunities for foreign investors as it offers equal level playing fields for both foreign and domestic investors, he said.

ZONG entered the Pakistani market with an aggressive network expansion strategy and has continued to spread its coverage rapidly across the country.

"We truly believe that expansion to attain critical mass is a key to gaining a competitive edge for our services in the still developing Pakistani market," says Li.

Pakistan, with a population of 170 million people, has tremendous potential for growth. Like other foreign companies, ZONG also aims to capitalise on this opportunity by bringing in new products.

ZONG's reach now stretches from the mountain tops of Ishkoman in Gilgit-Baltistan to the rocky plains of Buleda in Balochistan to the midst of mega cities.

He said the CMC Pakistan invested $1.66 billion in Pakistan so far. The company has generated more than 1,700 direct and over 40,000 indirect jobs in the country.

This investment has been made in less than two years since its launch and China Mobile is expected to invest more in Pakistan in the years to come, as a part of the company’s future investment plans, he added.
