De-Personalize to Sell Your Home Fast Posted: 22 Dec 2010 02:00 AM PST While you are preparing to sell your home fast, you may be brushing upon all kinds of home selling tips and taking in lots of great advice for what you can do to get your home sold soon…but what you may not consider is the way you can think to speed up your home sale. Some people who are selling a home find that they can’t quite put all the great advice they receive into practice because in their minds they are still holding onto the thought that the home belongs to them and no one else. It can help if you start to de-personalize your home. All of those lovely things that make your Maryland real estate homey for you will not evoke the same feelings in a prospective buyer. You don’t want a buyer to spend so much time wondering about you that they forget to really pay attention as they tour your property. You want buyers to envision themselves living there; your photos and most personal possessions can get in the way. Putting away family photos can go a long way towards helping buyers see themselves in your home. Some homes that are for sale are filled with possessions that prevent buyers from seeing themselves in them; other homes have things that just don't sit well with buyers for some reason. This can include items that show affiliations (sorority/fraternity, civic groups) and things that buyers don't find humorous. |
