Priyanka Chopra was a bundle of nerves when she was told by director Vishal Bhardwaj that a passionate lovemaking scene was to be shot between her and senior actor Anu Kapoor for the movie Saat Khoon Maaf during the last shooting schedule in Coorg.
The actress who has done steamy scenes with the likes of Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor in the past, shied away from lying in the bed with Anu Kapoor. The reason that's being cited is that Priyanka respects Anu as a senior and wasn't comfortable in doing the hot scene with him.
Reports say Priyanka did not express her apprehension to director Vishal Bhardwaj directly. Rather, she sent the feelers through her assistant.
Talking about Priyanka's refusal to do the sex scene, Anu Kapoor tells a tabloid: "Vishal ne mujhe bola ki Priyanka sharma rahi hai. Maine usko bola toh fir scene hi kaat do na? (Vishal said to me that Priyanka is feeling shy. So I told him to chop off the scene."
However, Vishal shot the scene separately with Priyanka and Anu. On the editing table the shots would be clipped together in such a way that the audience would find it hard to figure out that the two actors did not shoot together.
That's where the cunning of any filmmaker comes handy.
As fans continue to line up to watch Rajinikanth's latest film Endhiran, the movie is smashing all box office records and writing history.
Making a film with a 60-year-old star and a whopping budget of Rs 160 crore did seem like a big gamble. But director Shankar has silenced all detractors, as the movie Endhiran shows no sign of slowing down at the box office down south.
According to a trade analyst, the Tamil movie (and its Hindi version Robot) has raked in a collection between Rs. 200 to 225 crores in just two weeks since its release on October 1. No other film in the history of Indian cinema has made so much money in just two weeks.
Going by the figures, Endhiran has collected Rs. 150 crores from Tamil Nadu only. Its collection from other south centres is close to Rs. 50 crore. And the earning of Robot (Hindi) stands close to Rs. 15 crore.
That's not the end of it, as the film is likely to continue its good run in the weeks ahead.
On Friday, along with the major releases Knock Out and Aakrosh, the Himesh Reshammiya starrer and Pooja Bhatt directed Kajraare was also released. But no one knew about it, neither Himesh nor Pooja.
Just the producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series who released the film in just two theatres knew of it. So, did you ever hear of a hush-hush release that too in today's Bollywood when a movie's release without marketing could be a dangerous bet?
But why was Kajraare, a movie with a list of chart-busters by Himesh and a new Pakistani bombshell Mona Laiza, released only in two screens across India?
It's believed that the producer Bhushan Kumar was getting a good price for the satellite rights of the film. But for that the movie should have a theatrical release as per the agreement, so Bhushan did the needful and released it in only two theatres - New Empire in Mumbai and Apollo in Pune.
It's also said that Bhushan asked for Rs 1 crore from Himesh for the promotion of the film to which the singer simply said no. Moreover, Bhushan had already paid Rs 12 crore out of Rs 15 crore to Himesh as a part of his three films deal with T-series. As a producer he has profited because of the Kajraare music album.
It's clear that the producer wasn't interested in spending money for the promotions of the film, and to recover the cost, selling the satellite rights appeared to him a better business option.
Talking about the incident, Pooja Bhatt's father director-producer Mahesh Bhatt tells a daily, "I have been in the industry from 1971 and never before have I seen this kind of release for a film of this stature."
Himesh next movie A New Love Ishtory, which is directed by Sarfarosh fame John Matthew Matthan, is also with T-series. His last film with the company, Karzzzz, was a BO bummer.
