While nothing can beat actually visiting prospective neighborhoods and walking through the house you want to buy, there are lots of high-tech tools to assist you in narrowing down the places you want to visit. This can be especially helpful if you have to relocate to a new area. Real estate agents include photos on their websites and some also have slideshows to give you several interior and/or exterior views. And now that we do not just use out computers at home, but now have cell phones that function as portable mini-computers, you can also use your phone to gather information as well.
If you have an IPhone, you can use the free app Classifieds2Go to search for houses that are for sale and the Trulia Real Estate Search lets you view listings and look at a slideshow of results. NearBuy also has a real estate app for the iPhone that can show you listings, but its Neighborhood Statistics function was removed because it didn’t have sufficient information.
Things like program malfunctions, lack of information or infrequent updates are reasons why no matter how great an app may be, you will still want To work with a top Maryland real estate agent like John Day. Check out John’s Report Card and there you will see a testimonial from a woman who needed to relocate to Maryland for work. He would be happy to help you find Maryland real estate that suits you.
The Sony press conference at the CES 2011 just got over and the company announced its latest Xperia handset – the Xperia Arc. The Arc is the successor to the Xperia X10. The handset is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and has a 4.2-inch 'multi-touch' Sony Bravia powered display.
The back of the handset sports an 8.1MP camera with an Exmor R sensor and an LED flash. The handset is insanely thin at only 8.7mm. The phone also sports a mini-HDMI port which is capable of 1080p output.
The handset will have up to 512MB of internal memory along with the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DLNA, GPS, microSD card slot, microUSB port and a 3.5mm jack. The Xperia Arc will run on Android 2.3 when released. Quite surprising for a company known to load its handset with older versions of the Android OS. The phone will be powered by a 1500 mAh battery.
The Xperia Arc will be available in two colors – Midnight Blue and Misty Silver. The handset will hit the stores by Q1 of 2011.

Looks like LG and T-Mobile could not stand all the attention the XOOM tablet from Motorola was getting and, so they released their G-Slate tablet before LGs official event. The G-Slate tablet will be available on T-Mobile network and is made by LG. The tablet features 4G and runs on Android 3.0.
“LG is dedicated to continuing its role as an innovation leader and is thrilled to announce its entry into the tablet marketplace with the G-Slate,” said Jeff Hwang, president of LG Mobile Phones. “Streamlining everyday tasks and enhancing entertainment with blazing fast 4G speed, the T-Mobile G-Slate by LG will deliver the latest in Android technology and provide users with an advanced tablet experience.”
Sadly, LG did not mention anything about the internal specification of the tablet in their press release. However, they did release a bunch of videos of the tablet.
Here are a couple of videos featuring the T-Mobile G-Slate –:
First look of LG's T-Mobile G-Slate
From the videos, it is clear that the G-Slate has a front video camera. In all possibility, the G-Slate will be powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and pack in 1GB of RAM.
However, we need to wait until LG's press conference tomorrow before the specs of the G-Slate can be confirmed.
During the AT&T Dev. conference in CES 2011, Motorola gave us a sneak peak of the Atrix 4G handset for AT&T. However, the company did not announce the full specs of the handset. Now, AT&T has listed the Atrix 4G on their website with its full specs. The Motorola Atrix 4G sports an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and 1GB of RAM.
Like the Droid Bionic, the handset has a qHD display with a resolution of 960×540. However, the size of the display measures in at 4-inches, instead of the 4.3-inch screen estate on the Droid Bionic.
The Atrix 4G also packs 16GB of internal memory along with a microSD card slot. The back of the phone sports a 5MP camera with an LED flash while the front has a VGA camera. The Atrix 4G also has a unique security features – fingerprint login. The usual Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a 3.5mm jack are all present.
The phone will be powered by a mammoth 1930 mAh battery which will provide users with up to 9 hours of talk time.
Sadly, the Atrix 4G will run on Android 2.2 with the BLUR UI on top of it. The Atrix 4G also has a webtop dock which converts it into a netbook. Users can read more about it here.
Motorola just announced its first LTE phone for the Verizon network – the Droid Bionic. The Bionic is one powerful 'superphone' with a 4.3-inch qHD display sporting a resolution of 960×540. The phone has a dual-core processor (Nvidia Tegra 2, perhaps?) and packs in 1GB of RAM. The back of the phone sports an 8MP camera while the front features a VGA camera for all your video calling needs.
The handset also supports 4G, which is up to 10x times faster than 3G. The handset features a mini-HDMI jack so that users can hook the phone on to their HDTV display and enjoy full HD content.
"DROID BIONIC is the epitome of speed, providing consumers with instantaneous access to their personal and work content, anytime and anyplace," said Alain Mutricy, senior vice president of portfolio and device product management, Motorola Mobility. "By combining such a powerful mobile device with the performance and capabilities of Verizon's 4G LTE network, we're empowering consumers to define how they want to live their mobile lifestyles."
The Bionic also has a 'Mirror Mode' which allows users to simultaneously stream video to their HDTVs and watch it on their handset. Sadly, the Droid Bionic will run on Android 2.2 Froyo when released. The Motorola Droid Bionic also packs in support for corporate email, remote wipe and data encryption and other security features which corporate users will cherish.
The phone also features the usual Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a 3.5mm jack. The phone is powered by a beastly 1930 mAh battery.
The Droid Bionic does look like a very impressive superphone. However, Motorola did not announce the release date or the pricing of the device.
It’s still a few hours before Sony’s press event starts at CES 2011, but details of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, previously known as the Anzu have already been leaked.
It is an impressive device which runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It sports a very stylish design and is quite slim at just 8.7 mm.
It will be powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and comes with a 4.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. It will also have an 8 MP camera with a back illuminated sensor, autofocus and LED flash and can also record HD videos.
Here’s the official promotional video of the Xperia Arc.
At AT&T’s press event in CES 2011, they launched a series of mind blowing devices including the HTC Inspire 4G and the Samsung Infuse 4G. Another very impressive device that they showcased is the Motorola Atrix 4G. It is a very interesting concept which combines your smartphone and netbook into one device.
The Motorola Atrix 4G comes with a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor on the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform with 1 GB RAM. It comes with 16 GB internal storage and a 1930 mAh battery. It will run Android 2.2 Froyo with a custom UI shell, possibly MotoBLUR.
Now for the awesome part: it comes with the Motorola Webtop app which converts your Atrix 4G into a netbook. The Atrix 4G comes with a netbook dock. When plugged into the dock, the Atrix 4G functions as a netbook and drives the netbook’s 11.6 inch display. As a netbook, the Atrix 4G offers 8 hours of battery life on a 36 Whr battery.
It’s a very interesting concept. Knowing that an ARM version of Windows is in the works, it might be the only device you need to carry around.
AT&T and Samsung have just unveiled the Samsung Infuse 4G at CES 2011. It is AT&T’s first HSPA+ phone and has some really impressive hardware specs.
It comes with a huge 4.5 inch SuperAMOLED Plus display which supposedly comes with “50 percent more sub-pixels” for better contrast and outdoor visibility. Most phone manufacturers have been offering a maximum display size of 4.3 inches (except the Dell Streak, but that can hardly be called a phone), but Samsung is offering a slightly bigger one.
It will run Android 2.2 Froyo and comes with a 1.2 GHz processor and an 8 MP camera with autofocus and flash. It looks gorgeous and sports a very sleek design.
LG just announced the world's slimmest Android handset – LG Optimus Black – at the ongoing CES 2011. The LG Optimus Black is even thinner than the iPhone 4 and is just 9.2mm thick. The handset features an 4-inch NOVA display, which according to LG, is the 'brightest, clearest and most readable' among mobile screens.
LG is also stating that the NOVA display is highly power efficient compared to LCDs and AMOLED screens.
The handset will run on Android 2.2 with Optimus UI 2.0 on top of it. LG has promised to release the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the handset sometime later this year. The front of the phone also has a 2MP camera. The Optimus Black will be powered by a 1500 mAh battery. Sadly, LG did not announce the internal hardware specifications of the device. So, it is unknown whether the handset is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor or not.
The LG Optimus Black will hit the stores in first half of 2011. Also, LG did not mention anything about the pricing of the handset.
Just a week back, we had introduced you to the rumored HTC Thunderbolt, an Android phone with 4G LTE connectivity. It was to be released on Verizon’s network, but the specs seemed a bit unrealistic. Well, it turns out that it was real, but we still cannot confirm the specs.
Along with the Thunderbolt, HTC is launching another phone – the HTC Inspire 4G. It will be available on AT&T and will be unveiled with the Thunderbolt at CES 2011.
We don’t know what the “4G” means as AT&T’s network doesn’t support LTE, only HSPA+. We don’t have any details about the specifications of the HTC Inspire 4G, but by the looks of it, it seems quite impressive. It will also run Android, probably Android 2.2 Froyo with the HTC Sense UI.
Keep check out Techie-Buzz in the coming days, we will be posting more details as well as other CES scoop.
