Motorola Droid Bionic Announced; Features 4G and A qHD Display Posted: 05 Jan 2011 05:27 PM PST Motorola just announced its first LTE phone for the Verizon network – the Droid Bionic. The Bionic is one powerful 'superphone' with a 4.3-inch qHD display sporting a resolution of 960×540. The phone has a dual-core processor (Nvidia Tegra 2, perhaps?) and packs in 1GB of RAM. The back of the phone sports an 8MP camera while the front features a VGA camera for all your video calling needs. The handset also supports 4G, which is up to 10x times faster than 3G. The handset features a mini-HDMI jack so that users can hook the phone on to their HDTV display and enjoy full HD content.
The Bionic also has a 'Mirror Mode' which allows users to simultaneously stream video to their HDTVs and watch it on their handset. Sadly, the Droid Bionic will run on Android 2.2 Froyo when released. The Motorola Droid Bionic also packs in support for corporate email, remote wipe and data encryption and other security features which corporate users will cherish. The phone also features the usual Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a 3.5mm jack. The phone is powered by a beastly 1930 mAh battery. The Droid Bionic does look like a very impressive superphone. However, Motorola did not announce the release date or the pricing of the device. Motorola Showcases the Atrix 4G, Android Smartphone-Netbook Hybrid Posted: 05 Jan 2011 10:12 AM PST At AT&T’s press event in CES 2011, they launched a series of mind blowing devices including the HTC Inspire 4G and the Samsung Infuse 4G. Another very impressive device that they showcased is the Motorola Atrix 4G. It is a very interesting concept which combines your smartphone and netbook into one device. The Motorola Atrix 4G comes with a dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor on the Nvidia Tegra 2 platform with 1 GB RAM. It comes with 16 GB internal storage and a 1930 mAh battery. It will run Android 2.2 Froyo with a custom UI shell, possibly MotoBLUR. Now for the awesome part: it comes with the Motorola Webtop app which converts your Atrix 4G into a netbook. The Atrix 4G comes with a netbook dock. When plugged into the dock, the Atrix 4G functions as a netbook and drives the netbook’s 11.6 inch display. As a netbook, the Atrix 4G offers 8 hours of battery life on a 36 Whr battery. It’s a very interesting concept. Knowing that an ARM version of Windows is in the works, it might be the only device you need to carry around. Samsung Infuse 4G Unveiled at CES, Sports a Giant 4.5 inch SuperAMOLED Plus Display Posted: 05 Jan 2011 09:26 AM PST AT&T and Samsung have just unveiled the Samsung Infuse 4G at CES 2011. It is AT&T’s first HSPA+ phone and has some really impressive hardware specs. It comes with a huge 4.5 inch SuperAMOLED Plus display which supposedly comes with “50 percent more sub-pixels” for better contrast and outdoor visibility. Most phone manufacturers have been offering a maximum display size of 4.3 inches (except the Dell Streak, but that can hardly be called a phone), but Samsung is offering a slightly bigger one. It will run Android 2.2 Froyo and comes with a 1.2 GHz processor and an 8 MP camera with autofocus and flash. It looks gorgeous and sports a very sleek design. LG Optimus Black Unveiled; Is The World’s Slimmest Smartphone Posted: 05 Jan 2011 08:59 AM PST LG just announced the world's slimmest Android handset – LG Optimus Black – at the ongoing CES 2011. The LG Optimus Black is even thinner than the iPhone 4 and is just 9.2mm thick. The handset features an 4-inch NOVA display, which according to LG, is the 'brightest, clearest and most readable' among mobile screens. LG is also stating that the NOVA display is highly power efficient compared to LCDs and AMOLED screens. The handset will run on Android 2.2 with Optimus UI 2.0 on top of it. LG has promised to release the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the handset sometime later this year. The front of the phone also has a 2MP camera. The Optimus Black will be powered by a 1500 mAh battery. Sadly, LG did not announce the internal hardware specifications of the device. So, it is unknown whether the handset is powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor or not. The LG Optimus Black will hit the stores in first half of 2011. Also, LG did not mention anything about the pricing of the handset. Posted: 05 Jan 2011 08:45 AM PST Just a week back, we had introduced you to the rumored HTC Thunderbolt, an Android phone with 4G LTE connectivity. It was to be released on Verizon’s network, but the specs seemed a bit unrealistic. Well, it turns out that it was real, but we still cannot confirm the specs. Along with the Thunderbolt, HTC is launching another phone – the HTC Inspire 4G. It will be available on AT&T and will be unveiled with the Thunderbolt at CES 2011. We don’t know what the “4G” means as AT&T’s network doesn’t support LTE, only HSPA+. We don’t have any details about the specifications of the HTC Inspire 4G, but by the looks of it, it seems quite impressive. It will also run Android, probably Android 2.2 Froyo with the HTC Sense UI. Keep check out Techie-Buzz in the coming days, we will be posting more details as well as other CES scoop. via Android Central Share: Comment on This Post | Tweet This | Share on Facebook | Save to Delicious | Stumble This | Digg This | Reddit This TAGS: 4G, Android, AT&T, hspa, HTC, inspire 4g, lte, Thunderbolt HTC Inspire 4G Coming to AT&T originally appeared on Techie Buzz written by Pathik Shah on Wednesday 5th January 2011 11:45:39 AM under Mobile News.
