This was stated by Deputy Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik on the occasion of signing ceremony between Bank Alfalah and NADRA Technologies on the joint project of e-Sahulat Branchless Banking. Under the agreement, NADRA will act as super agent of Bank Alfalah offering them their e-Sahulat outlets for Branchless Banking activities. NADRA Technologies is in process of transforming this platform into National Smart Service Platform for e-commerce where organizations can utilize e-Sahulat touch points for cash in and cash out transactions. This arrangement will help commercial banks and telecom operators to extend branchless banking concept through e-Sahulat without raising any infrastructure and saving Capital and Operational cost, thus creating a Win-Win situation for all parties. It is expected that the technology will facilitate a significant section of public especially in rural areas to carry out branchless banking activities and will meet the government objective to spread the branchless banking outreach to unbanked and poor of the poor population. The e-Sahulat scheme was launched in May 2008. Cellular Operators Stand Side-by-Side at KUJ Grand Gala Posted: 22 Dec 2010 06:53 AM PST Cellular Operators Stand Side-by-Side at KUJ Grand Gala is a post from: ProPakistani The cellular phone operators are always indulged in stiff competition with each other whether it is about service tariffs, or TV commercials. But in an exclusive event, these operators stand face-to-face at festival of Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastoor) held here in Karachi. Telenor Pakistan was the foremost to sponsor the KUJ Grand Gala as major sponsor of the event. Besides, Ufone and Zong maintained their position as the co-sponsor of the event. Whereas Mobilink and Warid were out of the scene. The daylong fun fair mostly attended by journalists along with their families was the marketing and sales event for these operators as a large number of people joined the representative of the cellular operators at their stalls to cash in on their offers. Telenor Pakistan had set up an attracting platform for the attendees of the gala. The team members offered Gifts of SIMs and free airtime through balloting. Zong, with its theme "Say it All" has offered a large number of participants to say all to it with its new handsets, Karachi and 100 pe 100 offers promotion scheme. Ufone strategy was quite smart as it was limited to promote its post-paid packages and sparkling blackberry handsets. Representatives of these operators also attended and participated in the event. Mozzam Alik Khan and Sohaib Mustafa were granted souvenir by Hockey star Sohail Abbas. Related posts:

Letters to Editor: Why Not to Trust Local Online Retailers! Posted: 22 Dec 2010 12:44 AM PST Letters to Editor: Why Not to Trust Local Online Retailers! is a post from: ProPakistani Another reason why not trust to local online retailers with your personal details: They will breach your privacy, and will bombard your inbox with un-metered SPAM messages, each day. Pakistan's e-commerce industry is struggling hard to become a recognized industry. However, at this time of hardship, there are few elements which are destroying industry's repute and their businesses by Spamming inboxes. Mostly the buyers in Pakistan don't feel comfortable with online retailers. They greatly hesitate to share their credit card information due to mistrust, while others get confused over warranty claims and/or quality of products. Besides the trust factor, let me give u another reason that may hinder local buyer to do business with local online retailers. I did a mistake two and half years ago when I ordered an item from “symbiostec.net “, a local online retailer. I am not going to beat the matter that they sold be B-grade product- which they did in fact, but the real trouble for me is that for the last 2 years I am receiving spam email from them, very regularly. The worst thing is that they send email from different IDs (Check below given screenshot) and each morning I end up adding a new Email address in my spam list. If they call it a newsletter I find no option to opt-out of it. I am fed up of all this, Really. An Upcoming Package: 60 Paisas/30 Sec Posted: 22 Dec 2010 12:15 AM PST An Upcoming Package: 60 Paisas/30 Sec is a post from: ProPakistani Another good news for Mobile users: A cellular company has reportedly worked the feasibility of a package priced at 60 Paisas per 30 second, to all networks, and yes it would be without daily charges. This month we saw packages from Telenor, Mobilink with 49 Paisas per 30 second and 45 Paisas per 30 seconds respectively, in response to which Ufone offered 30 Paisas per 20 second package as well. But the thing that customers didn't like about all these packages were the 'Daily Charges' We have heard that this upcoming package of 60 paisas per 30 second package would be without daily rental. If revealed, this would be the first package in 18 months to beat Telenor's 63 paisas per 30 second rate. Though we have some hidden packages that offer even lesser rates. Related posts:

Zong Plans to Develop More Solar-Powered Cell Sites Posted: 21 Dec 2010 10:16 PM PST Zong Plans to Develop More Solar-Powered Cell Sites is a post from: ProPakistani Keeping in view the biggest challenge of energy crisis, China Mobile is focusing on the development of solar-powered cell sites to overcome this dilemma in Pakistan, reported 'The News' citing a Chinese official. Currently, the telecom giant has the largest solar-powered telecommunication network in the country. More than 150 cell sites are installed at different locations making ZONG the number one company in terms of solar cell sites, said Qian Li, CEO of China Mobile Pakistan-ZONG on the occasion of recent visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to Pakistan. "The brotherly relations between China and Pakistan have become legendary and this is visible not just between the two governments, but also between the people of the two countries," he said. "To further the cause of this friendship, China Mobile resolves to help the government of Pakistan by bringing more Chinese investors to the country." More than 150 businessmen accompanied the Chinese prime minister during his recent visit to Pakistan. Their main objective was to explore opportunities and to further enhance the existing bilateral relations in the field of trade and commerce between the two countries. "Sino-Pak friendship and strategic relations have earned great reverence and allegiance for Pakistan by China. As a result, China Mobile is interested to expand its operations in Pakistan. China Mobile has made a very strong impact since its launch and the company is here to stay." After becoming the fastest growing network of Pakistan, ZONG has recorded 500 percent growth in terms of number of cell sites during the last three years, the official said, adding that the company has now over 5,600 cell sites. Pakistan is a huge market, full of opportunities for foreign investors as it offers equal level playing fields for both foreign and domestic investors, he said. ZONG entered the Pakistani market with an aggressive network expansion strategy and has continued to spread its coverage rapidly across the country. "We truly believe that expansion to attain critical mass is a key to gaining a competitive edge for our services in the still developing Pakistani market," says Li. Pakistan, with a population of 170 million people, has tremendous potential for growth. Like other foreign companies, ZONG also aims to capitalise on this opportunity by bringing in new products. ZONG's reach now stretches from the mountain tops of Ishkoman in Gilgit-Baltistan to the rocky plains of Buleda in Balochistan to the midst of mega cities. He said the CMC Pakistan invested $1.66 billion in Pakistan so far. The company has generated more than 1,700 direct and over 40,000 indirect jobs in the country. This investment has been made in less than two years since its launch and China Mobile is expected to invest more in Pakistan in the years to come, as a part of the company’s future investment plans, he added.
