PTCL’s EVO Speed is Dipping, but There’s No ‘Fair Usage Policy’ so far! Posted: 21 Nov 2010 10:55 PM PST PTCL’s EVO Speed is Dipping, but There's No ‘Fair Usage Policy’ so far! is a post from: ProPakistani We have received numerous emails regarding PTCL's EVO speed degradations. These emails claimed that PTCL has quietly implemented "Fair Usage Policy" according to which download speed is observed degraded if subscribers download more than 10 GB of data in a month. This rumor of EVO's Fair Usage Policy is widely circulated over the web, however, it is not true. PTCL has officially confirmed ProPakistani that PTCL has not implemented any sort of "Fair Usage Policy" as of now. However, company confirmed that download speed on PTCL's EVO gets degraded during peak hours due to capacity issues or otherwise because of limited signals (coverage). It merits mentioning here that PTCL’s website isn’t detailing any ‘Fair Usage Policy’ either. On other hands, PTCL EVO customers, who are getting up to 10 times degraded speed, are widely protesting on multiple forums. They are firm that PTCL has deliberately degraded speed, based on 'Usage Policy' to cater its subscribers' base needs. There are some voices that opine that PTCL has capped its EVO customers to promote its newly launched 9.3 MB NITRO devices. Despite official denials, its a fact that PTCL EVO customers are getting degraded download speeds. Only time will tell if its a deliberate move, system flaw or the capacity issue. One of reader sent following speed test figures: Old Speed (July 9th, 2010) Current Speed: (November 22nd, 2010) PTCL's EVO services has gained popularity during the time, hence its subscriber based increased with time. However, the quality of service has diminished due to capacity load and limited pipe. Related posts:
