Video] Salman Khan comes up with his new promotional video for Bigg Boss-4

Posted: 21 Sep 2010 12:04 PM PDT

So, finally Salman Khan is all set to grove the audiences with his new promotional video for Bigg Boss season four. The previous season were hosted by different movie actors like Arshad Varsi, Shilpa Shettya and Big B Amitabh Bachchan. Big B hosted the last series and this time he has been replaced none other than Salman Khan. He is surely living all the attention.

The video has been choreographed by Pony Verma and the audio has been done by the musical duo of Sajid-Wajid from the Dabangg fame. The costumes are done by Salman's sister Alvira Khan, she had been off late taking a great interest in Salman's costumes. She also did his shirts in his movie Mainey Pyar Kyu Kiya, starring with Katrina Kaif. Ashley Rebello too styled him in the video.

According to Ashvini Yardi,Head -Programming, Colors, “Since the time we have announced Salman Khan as the host for Bigg Boss 4, we have witnessed unprecedented excitement and buzz amongst the viewers. Keeping in mind our promise of giving viewers ‘andar majaa aur baahar majedaar’, we have released a series of entertaining promos and will release a music video for the first time.

Viewers want more and more of Salman and till the show goes on air, we will keep them entertained with the music video and lots of other surprises."

The video and the moves have been strictly done while keeping in mind the cool and bindaas attitude of Salman Khan and the basic format of the program, where participants openly fight or either cry all the time. The show basically strives to capture the most vulnerable moments of one's life.

Says Milan Luthria, Director of the video, ” Salman and Bigg Boss both represent unpredictable entertainment. I have tried and capture that in a tongue and cheek approach in this video which is supported by great lyrics by Rajat Arorra and a great melody by Sajid-Wajid.

The collaboration between Salman and me couldn’t have come at a better time when both of us are enjoying the success of Once upon a time in Mumbai and Dabangg."

He further added, “I have tried to harness his unique spontaneity and energy and marry it to the concept of a very interesting show. We had a blast shooting it”.

The program is supposed the bitchiest of all the reality shows, where the participants have to nominate and eliminate each other from the Bigg Boss house and the survivor becomes the winner. This program is based on the format of the UK based show Big Brother.

The promotional video has been given a Moroccan look and feel in which Salman Khan would be dancing with some exotic beauties to the peppiest steps. After the huge success of Dabangg, this program is certainly another milestone for Salman Khan.  Time seems to be taking his side.

We just hope that he rocks in the show and gives as good performance as in his movies.

Movie Review The Whistleblower: Weisz justifies another serious role

Posted: 21 Sep 2010 10:47 AM PDT

The inflammatory subject of human trafficking lends the crisp backdrop of the movie The Whistleblower. The movie is a factual political thriller, which stars the much famous actor Rachel Weisz as a Nebraska cop.

The movie picks up its pace when she witnesses the atrocities on human beings while trafficking and then she ultimately joins the post-war Serbian U.N. peacekeeping team.

Though, the movie takes up a really grave issue and the first time feature director Larysa Kondrack along with the Canada-Germany co-production somewhere down the line fails to give a justification to the subject. The movie could have been much better.

She sets the movie in the year 1999, in which a father and the former husband of Lincoln police officer Bolkovac struggles to get the custody of his teenage daughter. He tries hard to get a transfer in his posting so that he could be close to his daughter all the time.

One day she gets a golden chance to make $100,000 for a six-month short period as a U.N. peacekeeper in Bosnia to which she happily gives in.

And from here the movie picks up its pace. Bolkovac extends her prior stay of six months and lands up in the U.N.’s Gender Office. This office deals with the sexual-assault investigations. It is supervised by Human Rights Commission and headed by Madeleine Rees, played by Vanessa Redgrave).

And there she gets the motto of her life to crack the human trafficking scandal and much more deep seeded corruption amongst her fellow peacekeepers.

Kondracki, the co-author of the movie too gives some hard hitting punches to the script.

The casting too gives the movie a real touch. With Rachel Weisz, Vanessa Redgrave in the lead roles, the movie truly gives goose bumps to the audiences.

Action Replayy Sends Akshay Kumar to Retro Age

Posted: 21 Sep 2010 10:30 AM PDT

Action Replayy the latest Akshay Kumar movie will see the star in a retro look & the grapevine is gaga over the fact that the action hero is all set to don the new retro look in real life as well.

The stylish actor will now be dressed in the 70's style to promote his movie Action Replayy. So wherever you go & whatever news flash you get of Akshay, you will find him in the retro style clothes.

From attending parties to making any sort of public appearance, Akshay will be all ready to woo the fans with his retro style. And trust me he does look good that way. Shabina Khan his designer is keeping quite busy now for she has to get him a whole new wardrobe.

Beginning today the retro avatar of Akshay will be seen everywhere & of course the star has to have a dedicated wardrobe to suit his needs.

Action Replayy's director Vipul Shah is all praises for his hero, “Having Akshay Kumar in a film is always an asset for any director. Akshay is so passionate about every film he does that he himself keeps coming up with ideas to promote the film. Sometimes we have to remind him we have a marketing team to do this exact job. However, Akshay being Akshay, he came up with this gem of an idea.

In fact, he was so excited that he called me in the middle of the night to inform me that from now on, to the day Action Replayy releases, he will only be wearing retro clothes.”

Action Replayy is a romantic story set in the 70's and with this movie Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will hopefully make a good comeback to Bollywood after the not-so-good Raavan failed to interest fans. While Akshay is bubbling with ideas to promote the movie-the whole 'retro thing was his brainchild, there isn't any such news about Aish yet.

Would we see both the stars in the retro style or will it be just the Singh is Kingg star moving about in retro gear?

As for the new retro look of Akshay, I bet you would like it just as much his metro sexual charm. Watch the trailer of Action Replayy if you are still in doubt.

John Travolta and Akshay Kumar to groove the stage

Posted: 21 Sep 2010 07:01 AM PDT

Action ReplayyAn uncanny coincidence seems to be brewing up with John Travolta visiting Mumbai when Akshay Kumar's retro act in Action Replayy seems to be making buzz around the city. In fact filmmaker Vipul Shah has charted out a plan together with his production team that is busy negotiating with the Hollywood actor over plans to work on a Desi version with Akshay Kumar his counterpart. Insider sources reveal that the two actors will be performing together dancing at a live event.

Vipul is presently discussing his plans with the iconic dancer who rocked the floor in the movie Saturday night fever. Akshay has always loved collaborating with entertainers from the international background like Kylie Minogue in his movie Blue, singer Snoop Dogg in his movie Singh Is King and RDB in his recent movie Kambakkht Ishq has also initiated into working opposite the great star in an evening.

John Travolta Akshay is taking up the Canadian way of getting through with the proposal and convincing Travolta so that he agrees to share the stage with him along with his legendary moves. Vipul Shah confirmed to the entire proceeding but also mentioned that it will be best if the negotiation is referred with a low profile as any such undertakings are usually painstaking and very confidential.

Nothing can be confirmed until the deal is signed over official documents. Even though Vipul is dicey about the entire situation yet there is news that dance numbers from Saturday Night Fever and Grease are being picked for the so to happen performance.

Dirty Girl Review: A sassy, sweet and musical comedy with powerful performance from Juno

Posted: 21 Sep 2010 05:03 AM PDT

Dirty Girl

Dirty Girl

Dirty girl the latest film on the block directed by a new director who has a musical background back in the theatres is widely apparent from the number of dance sequences so frequent in the movie. It is Abe Syliva who stunned the audiences at the Toronto premiere of the movie which received a very positive feedback from the crowd.

The mere success of the movie can be gorged from the money put in by Harvey Weinstein to take over the US rights which was a total of some $3 million. Therefore it's widely believed if the movie gets the right image and opening then it's a sure short success without any doubt in the market.

Juno, the daughter of the famous British filmmaker Julien Temple has already made her presence felt through various short or cameo roles in St. Trinians, Atonement, and Notes on a Scandal but in this attempt she adorns the role of a easy and sassy schoolgirl Danielle who is best described as the school whore.

Her code of conduct and her bad reputation leads her to some rectifying classes where she strikes a chord with an introvert, but chubby and funny Clarke whose character is played by the new comer Jeremy Dozier who is really impressive.

Both of them are poles apart but have similar parental issues where the parents of the boy find it very difficult to accept him for who he is and likely the Barbie doll mother of Danielle is about to get into another relationship with a pompous fiancé. The finally decide to go on a road trip to find her original father where they go through different adventures facing many troubles but finally ends on a agreeable note.

Orient Green Power

Orient Green Power has come up with its low price band shares in an initial public offering targeting long term investors. Arihant Capital Market has expressed its confidence in the IPO and has requested the investors to go for the shares valued at Rs 47-55 each. The company hopes to raise Rs 900 crore from the market to fund its biomass and wind power projects.

OGP shall use the funds for its four biomass projects, subsidiary OGP Rajasthan's biomass project, Beta wind farms' wind power project and the repayment of debts. Arihant Capital Market suggests that in view of the P/B valuation methodology meant for power generating companies, OGP is projecting its shares at a P/B of 5.8x times on the lower end and 6.8x times on the upper end of price band.

Due to the early stage of business the company does not have any comaparble groups within the industry. The shares might seem quite expensive compared to the conventional energy industry, but the scope for expansion and development are much higher in the field. The parent company Sriram EPC shall help OGP with the project execution functions.

Based on the above factors coupled with the positive demand supply and government policies, Arihant believes OGP is great investment option to those with long term investment plans.

As if I m not there Movie Review: A realistic approach to the Balkan wars and the condition of women

As if I m not there

As if I m not there

This talented director had already made her presence felt to the world through her Oscar nominated The Door which was based and shot in the beautiful locations of Ukraine and yet again this Ireland born talented lady makes another wonderful attempt into something she readily enjoys and is fearless about it.

The topic Wilson chooses and the way it is handled is where she proves her excellence and brilliance in this art of filmmaking when compared to her contemporaries. One keeps wondering what will her films be about in another 20 years from now.

The plot of the movie stages around the protagonist Samira whose character is played by a newcomer named Natasha Petrovic who is certainly luminous in her role. The movie begins when she moves to a countryside village far away from her middle class life in the town of Sarajevo. She moves along with her family members which includes her younger sister and her parents.

When she reached the villages he joins the position of a primary school teacher who is hired temporarily but her students keep telling her that the permanent one is never going to return.  Shortly after she arrives the soldiers enter the village and kill all the women and take away the women to a far away prison.

It is here that Samira is singled out for sex by the males who gang rape her and the sequence is so horrifying that Samira at one point of point feels so detach from her body that she doesn't even feels what is actually happening to her body.

The movie is really a very great attempt to portray the state of women during the Balkan wars.

Ahead of the Babri Masjid verdict on Friday, the Indian government has initiated certain measures to prevent any undesirable happenings following the pronouncement of the verdict. All kinds of media – electronic and print – have been barred from entering the court at time of the declaration of the verdict.

The order is based on the viewpoint that the electronic media's immature analysis may lead to provocation. Instead, the lawyers belonging to both the sides will present the verdict at the office of the District Magistrate in Lucknow to the media and the country. TV channels have also been instructed by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to avoid showing the video footage of the Babri Masjid demolition happened in 1992.

A statewide security alert has also been issued by the Home Ministry, especially to Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka. They have been asked to get ready for any major law and order breach once the Ayodhya verdict is out on Friday.

In addition, 32 sensitive locations have been forwarded by the Ministry that had more chances of expressing extreme reactions. Four of them are reported to be in Uttar Pradesh. The help of paramilitary forces has also been sought, particularly in important areas like airports.

Meanwhile, groups belonging to both the sides are preparing themselves for the verdict. Whatever it may be, the losing side shall surely go for an appeal in the Supreme Court. Though the political parties and respective groups are busy making calculations about the verdict, the youth belonging to the area of Ayodhya and Faizabad feel that it's neither the temple nor the mosque that the population desires, but development and peace.

So the legal jargon has entangled the famous Kaun Banega Crorepati too with the latest advertisement doing the rounds on different channels, where the actor uses the famous Netaji Subash Chandra Bose's famous slogan during the struggle for independence of India and now a well certified lawyer has called it as an insult to the patriotic sentiment of the citizens and therefore issued a threat to sue the people responsible.

The lawyer who issued this threat was identified as Mehmood Abdi who allegedly claimed that the famous slogan Tum Mujhe Khoon Do Main Tumhe Aazadi Doonga meaning offer your blood to the nation and the nation will in return offer you freedom was used by the famous national leader to increase the number of citizens participating in the freedom struggle and in joining the army but when used by the show and its advertisement, it seems to be used in a derogatory manner and casual tone, without the due respect it is entitled to even today.

This noted lawyer who is also the attorney of the famous Lalit Modi, who was the chairman of the world renowned Indian Premier League said that during the course of the add various segments of the citizens are portrayed using the famous slogan in a joking manner neglecting the sacred patriotic sentiments linked with it completely which is not all acceptable.

The patriotic lawyer also added that he felt the king of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan himself formulated the slogan not subash Chandra bose, watching the promotional add on his television set.
