Bigg Boss 4: Shweta Tiwari celebrates her daughter’s birthday

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 06:02 AM PDT

Big Boss 4's contestant Shweta Tiwari left back her little daughter to secondary care when she moved into the Big Boss home for the reality show.

But now it seems that the actress is immensely missing her little wonder and this is all too evident on and off screen.

When the situation was further interrogated into then the members at Big Boss got to know that Shweta's daughter, Palak Tiwari has her birthday on the 8th of October and this is making the loving mother a bit jittered about being away from her sweet lovu, as Shweta calls her.

Shweta had in fact made requests to the TV channel about letting her talk to her daughter on this day. So Big Boss decided to deliver a little surprise for Shweta so that she could not feel apart from her daughter's big day.

Today when actor Salman Khan will meet contestants for the first week's eviction, at the same time he will ask the actress to go to the store room for her little surprise. While Abbaz Kazmi will be the first one to be evicted at the same time Shweta Tiwari will find a chocolate cake in the store room.

Shweta according to the episode inputs was a bit nervous about this surprise as she never expected something so sweet and hence when she found a cake, she was overwhelmed about the fact that Big Boss had adhered to her request and therefore Shweta celebrated her daughters birthday along with the other inmates of the house by getting the cake cut.

However Shweta did not eat the cake herself as is on a navratre fast.

Movie Review: GhettoPhysics by Arntz

GhettoPhysics

GhettoPhysics

Movie Review: GhettoPhysics by director William Arntz and E. Raymond Brown is a flick that emphasizes upon power relations and power wielding between leaders and citizens, employers and workers, creditors and debtors through all times, places and people.

Even though at the beginning this issue may seem simple and very obvious bet the momentum with which the flick handles this issue makes the audience realize that this flick actually acts as a critique to extreme capitalism that is choking the grounds.

Professor of GhettoPhysics break down facts that the one who is actually making all the profit is paying bigger than those who are putting in labor to achieve the targets. The movie has a cast of actors including Mike Foy, Sabrina Revelle, Nina Daniels, Janeline Hayes and Ice-T.

The flick puts together every form of media leverage whether it is a documentary or footage or an animation, satire and even dramatization to focus the fact that is being supported citing examples from Hood- Wall Street.

It also has many guest interviews from entertainers and men of mind like Dr. Cornel West, KRS-One, Ice-T, Too Short, Cynthia McKinney, John Perkins, William H. Arntz (co-director) and Norman Lear.

It's not just the professor but even the talking members of the class room that make this subject a lot more interesting. Like KRS-One who is a performer and also a producer. Whatever the flick may score at the box office but it sure is a conversation header for a world that is facing true crisis because of power domination.

Abbas Kazmi Evicted from Bigg Boss 4′s house

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 04:34 AM PDT

Big Boss 4 is not even a week old and it seems that the house mates are already on the war front against each other.

The fifth day of the show has Manoj Tiwar at his worst behavior as he throws a tantrum over the food habits and his being a vegetarian. The incident that culminates into this act is a result of Begum eating Paranthas from the same plate as everyone.

On this Shweta Tiwari reaches out to Manoj and tries to simmer him down by telling him that fresh food will be prepared for him in this condition. The rest of the day goes calm enough but during the late hours the focus shifts to Sara who is busy weeping and tearing apart pictures.

When Sakshi and Veen areach out to her over this Sara does not give out a proper reasoning for her acts and instead remains silent about her agitation.

Manoj Tiwari on the other side talks out his personal life with Rahul telling him that his personal life is on the rocks and even though he is married for the past 12 years but his marriage is now facing bad times and he does not want his daughter to suffer because of the consequences of his breaking marriage.

With this Salman Khan appears on screen to declare the eviction results while the four chosen house mates wait with their bags and baggage's for the results.

These contestants include Abbas Kazmi, Sara Khan, Seema Parihar and Hrishant Goswami. The results of the first eviction totally reflect the fact that our nation has still not moved ahead of the 26/11 attack with Abbas Kazmi being the first person to be evicted out of the house.

Movie Review: Red White and Blue a tricolor movie with unending choppiness

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 04:09 AM PDT

Red White and Blue

Red White and Blue

Red White and Blue is a flick by filmmaker Simon Rumley who has not just given the directorial score but has even written down the story. As a horror movie this can challenge viewers to find a single character that can be liked in any sense.

Amanda Fuller plays the character of Erica who spends her day hours cleaning apartments in Austin for her rent money while at night she is ready to do away anybody apart from friends and a man twice. Erica can actually be tagged as an emotionally torn woman who can lay down anything that moves.

This is where the horror element lies when Erica beds a rocker Franki played by Marc Senter and transfers to him a disease. Knowing about this Franki is drawn by a rage against Erica.

Amidst all this we see Nate (Noah Taylor), a war veteran from Iraq who is drawn to Erica but may be he is the only man over whom she hasn't laid her hands yet. Nate comes in the middle of the revenge sequence to help Erica escape from Franki.

The revenge that comes forth is in the form of knife stabbing, duct tapes and blood. The violence that is portrayed in the flick is enough to set your heart beat racing even though most of it is not put up on the screen and is depicted in fragments.

Director Rumley has taken up predictable characters and a predictable story but has induced it with choppy elements that give the flick an entirely new take refusing to comply towards simpler forms.

Boxing Gym with a difference to strike upon

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 03:06 AM PDT

Frederick Wiseman directed Boxing Gym is a take on the Austin, Texas based gym that trains boxers ranging from men, women to kids so that they can put up their best show in the ring. The cast of the movie includes Richard Lord who plays the part of the coach. Richard trains boxers from all streams of life.

He as an encouraging coach helps people excel and improve continuously. His approach towards this violent game is absolutely patient and calm.

The flick has no music and no commentary. It is simplistically designed to show the true essence of this sport. The sounds in the flick are basically close sounds of punching bags against boxing gear, grunts and heavy breathing, hopping ropes etc.

The director centralizes the story against the number of people who flock Richard to learn this game out of different reasons. Some want to learn the game as an art form, some want to sweat out the aggression while some wish to gain confidence over there own selves through this sport.

The movie therefore appropriates the energy that is released when people hit across these bags giving away their stress, tensions and worries but without a narration. Even though the subject picked is a good one to focus upon but the lack of narration and other complimentary elements can make the viewing experience rather random and unentertaining. The total length of the flick is 91 minutes with the cinematography score of John Davey who has expressed a lot with his camera techniques.

Review: As Good As Dead stands well for the title

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 01:17 AM PDT

Jonathan Mossek directed As Good As Dead is a movie about racial upheavals. This suspense horror flick has actors like Cary Elwes, Andie MacDowell, Brian Cox, Frank Whaley and Matt Dallas. Cary Elwes plays the part of Ethan Belfrage a photographer at the New York City.

Things are solely average until one fine day his life takes a turn and he is kidnapped by a group of assailants who hold him hostage at an apartment in the city. These captors are acolytes of religious leader, Reverend Kalahan from the southern section who was killed in the year 1999.

These neo Nazis suspect Ethan Belfrage as one of the killers who participated in the execution and hence torture him so that he can give out the names of his other confederates who were a part of this murder.

Frank Whaley is the lead member of these assailants. Jonathan Mossek has pulled across a lot many performances in this low budget production with a hefty star cast that is limited to just a dialogic performance within the background of a room.

The assailants vow to torture Ethan to a limit that will have him pay for what he has done but as the interrogations proceed they only realize the fact that Ethan is not the suspected killer.

The movie will probably not make big gains at the box office but will do alright as a DVD. There is nothing much racist or torturous about the movie but the actor's performance is worth a view in this Jonathan directed flick.

Movie Review The Town: Action packed and heroic

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 12:16 AM PDT

The Town

The Town

The Town takes a new angle of a much documented bunch of people, a gang of bank robbers. Yes, Ben Affleck is back with a brand new story. He proves that he is better as a director than Actors. The movie is set in downtown Chicago where the bank of robbers takes Rebecca Hall hostage. With this, the gang's fall is destined.

Trouble begins when Affleck falls for the naive bank employee and is finally able to see a world beyond crime and punishment.

Now he wants to give up this life and break ties from old gang pals. Will he be able to leave the world of robbery, for good? How will he cut ties with long time accomplice Jeremy Renner? What makes The Town stand apart from the rest of the gangster movies? It is the sheer passion with which drama, characterisation and action is all interwoven.

By the end of the movie, one can feel the emotions of these gangsters and actually feel sad when they undergo the final fall.

The movie shows that bank robbers, too, have a heart. The best act comes from Jeremy Renner, who has acted in Oscar winning movie Hurt Locker. He is the unpredictable guy and Affleck's best buddy.

The movie reaches a new level with this chemistry.

The Town is worth watching and watching out for. The special effects, downtown chases and crazy gun firing have a real feel to it and you can't help but feel part of the entire setting, of course with an added adrenalin rush throughout.

Crook Movie Review: Emraan Hashmi is back

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 11:32 PM PDT

Crook

Crook

Movie Review: Crook movie, directed by Mohit Suri, picks up a raw, international issue and depicts both sides of it. This time, it is the India and Aussie gang wars.

Emraan Hashmi plays the lead character, an Indian cabbie-man taking the rough ride in Melbourne.

The streets of Melbourne are full of war and bloodshed between Indian and Australian gangs. Emraan's character is similar to what he plays in Jannat, another film by the same director. In Crook, Emraan is a headstrong guy who doesn't care much about morals.

He goes to Australia to make money, by any possible means. There, he falls in love with a student activist played by Neha Sharma. While Neha is trying to sort out the difference between Indian and Austrlian communities, Emran feels like a different person too.

Will he finally turn into an activist and overcome his 'crook' status? Crook movie reviews rate it high simply because of its extreme topicality. Emraan does what he does best. He plays the guy he's always been comfortable with.

His crazy act in Murder and reincarnation of Dawood like Don in his recent hit Once Upon A Time in Mumbai instills confidence in fans that Enraan will do it again, once again!

The interesting part about Crook is that Mohit takes both sides of the coin and rpesents it well. He showcases the Australian side of it, as they protect the native culture from potential damage by Indians and others.

At the same time, Indian students seek leadership in Arjan Bajwa as he fights for his culture abroad. Crook movie reviews come out clean of any controversies so far, maybe just waiting for the release before the action can follow!.

Movie Review: Do Dooni Chaar Presents Real Life Tough and Sweet Moments

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 10:59 PM PDT

Do Dooni Chaar

Do Dooni Chaar

Movie Review: Do Dooni Chaar is a graceful movie and is entirely different from the other movies being released these days. The 'grace' factor gives it a big plus.

The story is about a middle class family that struggles throughout to improve their standard of living in a very decent manner. Click here Do Dooni Chaar 2010 Hindi Movie MP3 Song Listen Online

The movie reflects a typical lifestyle of a family living in a metro struggling with all their day to day hiccups and focussing on enhancing their way of living in various ways. One thing is sure, after watching this movie, everyone will be going back home with some sweet moments from movie registered in their mind.

The end of the movie is surely going to bring smile on each person's face. The story has been written and directed by Habib Faisal presenting a genuine metro (especially Delhi) life. But unlike his previous movies like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Tara Rum Pum Pum, this movie has been written entirely differently.

The movie reflects the lifestyle of Duggals living in a DDA flat economically in a tight position trying to adjust their monthly household budget in a hard way. Mrs Duggal, the Mom in the family, played by Neetu Singh, striving for a new refrigerator tries her best to keep her desires under control.

She is also having a tough time to suppress the desires of their children demanding new gadgets like i-pod and costly clothes. Mr Duggal, the family Dad, played by Rishi Kapoor, is a professor teaching mathematics in a school, is having a tough time in balancing his timings between home, school and the coaching classes he takes.

He keeps worrying about the increasing rates, family expectations and his low earnings.
In spite of all hard facts of life in the movie, it has been presented in a very dignified, sweet and positive manner. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, the real life married couple are coming on silver screen after around 30 odd years.

Rishi Kapoor presents a sweet chubby Dad and Neetu Kapoor  and Neetu Kapoor is as lively and sweet as was last seen in movies 30 years back.

Overall, Do Dooni Chaar is a good family movie reminding of sweet and hard moments of every family in real life. Do dooni chaar, rishi kapoor, Neetu kapoor, habib faisal.

Movie Rating: 3/5
