MCB Wins Award for Mobile-Banking Services is a post from: ProPakistani MCB Pakistan mobile-banking services has won an award for best bank-led mobile money transfer programme in the first world's Mobile Money Transfer (MMT) Awards ceremony held recently. The bank won the award on the best subscription and adoption rates as well as the market entry strategy and customers' responses. The MMT award aims to recognize and reflect the rapid emergence of this new sector in all its varied forms. The entry was open to all players in the 'Mobile money transfer' eco-system. This year's awards brought together mobile money project leaders from 53 different countries, representing key stakeholders the world over. MCB transacted amount reached more than Rs 3.05 billion since the launch of mobile-banking services in July 2009. The number of transaction carried were 2 million over the same period of time. MCB mobile-banking services are specified for its account holders enable of making payments and view balances directly from their accounts via mobile phones or any device connected to the internet. MCB has also been nominated for the GSMA and Banker Magazine awards for mobile-banking services. Majority of the customers used the services for utility bills payment, money transfer of money within the country. Besides, services of international remittance transfer, purchase of as life insurance and protection policies, mini statements and balance inquiries, donations, visa and mobile phone pre-paid cards payment are carried out through MCB mobile-banking services. Wateen Posts 20% EBITDA for the Q1 2010 is a post from: ProPakistani Wateen Telecom has announced its results for the first quarter of 2010/11. It said that company has posted revenue of Rs. 1,931 million with Rs. 383m positive EBITDA against a EBITDA loss of Rs. 110 million for the same period last year. Since the last quarter of 2010, Wateen is continuously showing a positive trend in terms of revenues and profitability. Wateen is capitalizing its unique strategic position as nationwide optic fiber operator, system integrator, broadband services provider and key LDI operator all under one umbrella. Management has aligned the organization to focus more on profitable revenue streams reflected in gross margin which stands at 31% in the first quarter compared to 14% for the same period last year. Through implementation of cost rationalization program and operational efficiency initiatives, management has managed to keep the cost under control without compromising on quality of services. Future Outlook Wateen has undertaken a number of steps to build shareholder value through various cost optimization and rationalization programs. One such program has been the in-house development, deployment and support of various business critical BSS modules such as CRM, TMS, customer self-care and Business Intelligence (MIS). Wateen has also achieved significant reductions in its operating expenses to mitigate the affect of inflationary pressures on Pakistan's economy. Similarly, by bringing various Engineering operations in-house, Wateen has not only reduced its operating expenses further, but also gained considerable insight and control over customer experience. Most of the growth in infrastructure for Wateen has been facilitated through a subsidy from USF (approximately Rs. 1.8 billion for fiber optic expansion), which directly enhances the bottom line. In addition to this, it will also enable faster report turnaround as the patient will not be required to visit the laboratory or the collection point to collect the report. NetSol Posts Healthy First Quarter is a post from: ProPakistani NetSol today reported its 1st quarter results with revenues of Rs. 424 million (US $ 4.90 million), 4.5 % higher than Rs. 406 million (US $ 4.69 million) a year ago during the same period. Gross profit in the 1st quarter rose 10.19 % to Rs 267 million (US $ 3.09 million), as compared to Rs 242 million (US $ 2.80 million) reported in the 1st quarter 2009-10. NetSol said that it reduced its cost of sales during the 1st quarter of 2010-11 to 37 % of revenue as compared to 40 % of last fiscal. As a result, gross margin improved to 63 % compared to 60 % in the corresponding fiscal year. The company's net profit margin reduced slightly, reducing 51 %, compared to 53 % achieved a year ago. Company posted diluted earnings per share of 2.62 Rupees (US $ 0.03), compared to 2.67 Rupees per share (US $ 0.03) reported in the corresponding year of 2009-10. This slight decrease in net profit margin and diluted EPS is mainly due to donation given in flood relief activities and providing for a receivable from a third party against which the company is in litigation.
