Google Voice Search Gets Personalized Recognition Feature

Posted: 14 Dec 2010 10:26 PM PST

Voice_Search_PersonalizedGoogle launched its Voice Search service more than two years ago. Since then, the big G has added many features to its service and has improved it as well. Today, the company has added another new feature to Google Voice Search application – Personalized Recognition.

If users will enable Personalized Recognition, then Google will collect your recordings and will automatically use them to build a speech model specifically for the user. However, as of now the feature is available only in the United States for English language only. Google intends to add support for more countries and languages in the near future.

The new feature is available only for Android handsets running Android 2.2 or higher. The new updated Voice Search application also contains some bug fixes and improvements to voice recognition and speed over 3G and EDGE.

Nokia Finland To Lose Roughly 800 Jobs

Posted: 14 Dec 2010 09:26 PM PST

Rolling into the 2011, Nokia plans to follow through with previously discussed cut backs. In the upcoming month of January, it is estimated that 800 Nokia employees will be offered severance packages or be relocated elsewhere inside the global cellphone giant. This is in addition to the estimated 1,800 global job losses back in October. Hopefully this is just good restructuring and Nokia can dive right into a strong year after they're reorganized.

Nokia E7 Delayed To Early Next Year

Posted: 14 Dec 2010 08:55 AM PST

During the Nokia World 2010, the Finnish giant announced the 'biiiiggg' Nokia E7. The E7 sports a huge 4-inch screen with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Many people consider it to be the successor to the last 'Communicator' – E90. When Nokia announced the handset, the company said that the device will hit the retail stores before the year end.

However, now All About Phones is reporting that Nokia has delayed its highly anticipated handset to early 2011.

Apparently, the reason for the delay is a "minor durability issue" with the E7 hardware. However, due to the delay the E7 will be missing the holiday shopping season now I am pretty sure the sales of the handsets are going to take a hit.

Also, next year we will be seeing the launch of some awesome Android devices with NVidia Tegra 2 processors. I seriously wonder how the E7 will be able to compete with them next year.
