Chrisette Michele: Chrisette Michelle’s New Hair

Chrisette Michele: Chrisette Michelle's New Hair

Chrisette Michele Payne known as Chrisette Michelle, a R&B Singer is the newest celebrity to shave her head to make a fashion statement.

In her latest interview in Albany State University where she performed, she revealed that she has a mindful decision to stop damaging her hair with using chemicals in relaxers and heat together with bunch of wigs and weaves. She decided to treat her hair with natural, and non-chemical treatment by shaving her hair. Chrisette Michelle said that using wigs, weaves and lacefront glueing doesn't make a good singer or called to be a black woman.

Chrisette Michelle said in her statement at VIBE.COM that the turning point for her to shave her hair was when she was on tour. Because she do not want to dye her hair for the tour the hairstylist decided to glue stuff on her hair and when the show is over some of the glued pieces would not come out.

"I said I'm shaving my head because this is ridiculous. This does not make me Black. This does not make me a great singer; this makes me have a piece of hair stuck to my head and I was like, "I'm done, I can't do this anymore," says Chrisette Michelle on her decision.

Chrisette Michelle's new haircut and decision to shave may sound ridiculous for some but I think her statement made a perfect sense. Chemicals and dyes which people put in their hair are not only damaging but it also affects ones health and the environment.

Michele was born in Central Islip, New York, and grew up in Patchogue to parents who served in various roles in their church. She won a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2009 for her song "Be OK"
