Publix Penny Item This Week – Coffee

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 11:57 AM PST

This week’s penny item at Publix is Publix coffee.

Every Wednesday (or Thursday depending on when your store’s ad starts), Publix has an item that they sell for 1c with a $10 purchase. (This is not valid at all stores, be sure to check and see if your store does this first. My stores here in Alabama do.) You can find the penny item coupon in today’s newspaper. The $10 purchase is before coupons. ;)

Couponing to Disney – How to get more coupons

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 11:49 AM PST

Long before I was “Couponing to Disney”, I was active on couponing forums. (I actually got my start on Babycenter.) I learned how to coupon, I found deals and I traded coupons…..

Trading coupons is a GREAT way to get more coupons and get rid of the ones you have. But it can be incredibly overwhelming to get started.

Here are the 3 sites that I have traded on before:

Here’s what you can trade:

  • Coupons (insert and non insert coupons (these are coupons that came from everywhere but inserts). Non insert coupons are the most popular ones to trade.)
  • Rebate forms (you can find both rebate forms for products as well as No Beer Purchase Required rebates)
  • Box Tops for Education (also called BTFEs)

It is a lot of information to absorb when you just get started trading. I highly suggest that you start with just one site before moving on to the others. Hot Coupon World is probably the easiest one to use, so I would start with that one.

The very first thing you need to do after you join is read through the rules. It is important that you always follow the rules. The ones that will pertain to you the most are Rules for: Trades: Current Coupons, Rules for: Haves Lists: Have Coupons or Actuals, and Trade Rules for: Wish Lists: Seeking Coupons or Actuals for Trade.

Once you have a good understanding of the rules, you are ready to move on.

Once you read through the rules, you are ready to read the Trading Frequently Asked Questions post. Make sure you read these instructions to learn how to start posting.

You should now be completely educate and feel ready to start trading.

The forum that you will start trading in is called Trades: Current Coupons and Offers. Just look for someone who either has what you want or is looking for something that you have.

Trading is really something that you learn as you go. The more you trade, the easier it will get. I have over 500 trades under my belt. I think it is a GREAT way to get coupons.

My tips:

  • For the first 5 or so trades you make, you will likely be required to mail your end first. So don’t be surprised if this is asked of you.
  • Sometimes people won’t want to trade with you. Don’t get your feelings hurt. It is nothing personal.
  • Always make sure you mail out your end of the coupons on time.
  • If a trade sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I have gotten burned a few times. Remember that dishonest people trade coupons too.
  • The longer you trade, the easier it will get to recognize hot coupons from not so hot coupons. It is a learning process, just like bargain shopping.

Do you trade coupons? If so, which sites are your favorites? Any tips you want to share?

Couponing to Disney – What is found money?

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 11:30 AM PST

You hear me use the term “found money” a lot. But what exactly is found money?

  • Found money is money you literally found. Like a quarter on the ground or a dollar in the dryer.
  • Found money is money you didn’t know you were going to receive – like a refund check, a gift, etc.
  • Found money is a discount you were given when you expected to pay full price (the difference goes into the fund).
  • Found money is the difference between what you budgeted for and what you actually paid .
  • Found money is money you intended to spend and resisted. (If you were headed out the door to spend $3 on a coffee and resisted at the last minute, you could put that $3 in the fund because it would of been spent!)
  • Found money is money you received for returning an item you bought with the previous week’s budget

I could go on and on and on. Found money is anything that you want it to be!

I am so excited to get this deal in my email. You can choose from Free Business Cards, Free Rubber Stamp, Free Photo Wall Calendars, Free return address labels, or Free sticky notes from Vistaprint!

Here are the ones I ordered in the past:

I love their rubber stampers. I have had mine for 2 years and it still works excellent! It beats having to write your address out every time. Now that I have the PO Box for the blog, I wanted one for it as well.

I also love their address labels. There are so many neat things you can do with them besides using them for addresses:

Plus they are offering 250 free business cards. Besides using them to promote your business, blog, Etsy shop, trade site, etc. You can get creative. One of my readers uses them as little cards of encouragement when her employees are doing a good job. Another made cards to pass out at Disney World to cast members that brightened her day.

You can also use them as Mommy Cards. You can give these to other mother’s that you meet at the park, play group, mall, etc or to give to the baby sitter so she can contact you.

The possibilities are endless! You just need to get creative.

Disney Junior and Disney Family.com are inviting families to “Be Part of the Magic” of Disney Junior…

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 08:28 AM PST

Playhouse Disney is getting a transformation. On February 14th, it will be relaunched as Disney Junior. With the relaunch will come new shows including Jake and the Never Land Pirates (how cute does that sound) as well as our beloved favorites like The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of Disney Junior on Monday, February 14, parents are invited to enter a favorite photo of their child into the "Be Part of the Magic" contest.   Six families will truly "be part of the magic" when their child's picture is featured on-air during the premiere week of the newly branded Disney Junior programming block on Disney Channel.

Entries will be voted upon by the public, with the six children (3 boys and 3 girls) ages 2-7 who receive the most votes being selected as the winners.  In addition to the initial six winners, Disney Channel may select other photos of children entered into the contest to be featured in an on-air promotion. Entries will be accepted from now until January 23.

Day 12 of No Dining Out January

Posted: 12 Jan 2011 05:21 AM PST

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend however they choose!

How can this help you “Coupon to Disney?”

  • Take a look at your current dining out budget. How much did you spend last month going out to eat? That is money that could of gone into your fund instead! Try cutting your out to eat costs this month and adding the difference to your fund.
  • Set a weekly dining out budget, if you resist going out to eat, add that amount to your fund instead.
  • If you were seriously about to go out to eat (like had your coat on and was going out the door or pulled into the drive thru and then pulled back out), add the amount you would of spent to your fund.
  • Going out to eat and using a coupon or paying with a gift card? You could add that amount to your fund too. For example… if you had a $25 gift card to Cracker Barrel and you used it, you could take $25 cash out of your budget and add it to the fund. Or if you used a $10 coupon, you could take $10 cash out of the budget and add it to the fund.
  • Be sure to read my Couponing to Disney training series.

The rules:

  • You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
  • You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the cash.
  • The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
  • You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
  • Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
  • Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My update

My hubby took my nephew to see a WWE event last night. Hubby forgot to eat dinner and ended up spending $17 on 2 hotdogs, chips and drinks for him and my nephew. Bummer! I’ll have to remind him to eat next time.

How are you doing?

How to Coupon to Disney – Rebates add cash to your fund!

Posted: 11 Jan 2011 07:23 PM PST

It is very simple to use rebates to “Coupon to Disney“. Just pay for the items needed for the rebate out of your weekly budget. When the check arrives, deposit it into your fund.

Tips on how to use rebates:

  • Save every single receipt. I got a coupon/check organizer in the dollar spot at Target and use it to organize my receipts. You never know when you might need a receipt for a rebate.
  • If you purchase an item for a rebate, take the UPC off of it before you put it up in your cabinet. If you can’t remove the UPC without ruining the package, write on it with a permanent marker so you don’t accidentally toss the UPC when you go to use the product.
  • Most rebates require the original receipt. If you are purchasing 2 items that will be submitted for separate rebates, make sure you purchase them in separate transactions so you will have a receipt for both items! (Some stores will print a duplicate receipt for rebates. Ask your store and see if they do it.)
  • If you forget to pay for the item separately, you could take it with your receipt back to the store and explain to them what you did. They might let you return and rebuy the product so that you will have the separate receipt. It never hurts to ask.

Where to find rebates:

I add a lot to my fund with No Beer Purchase Required rebates. Read all about them here and see if they are valid in your state!

Ask the readers: How many newspapers do you buy a week?

Posted: 11 Jan 2011 02:14 PM PST

When you are getting started couponing, it can be hard to know how many papers to purchase. I’ve always suggested purchasing at least 4 papers. This is because when items go on sale buy one, get one free you will have enough coupons to get 2 deals.

I have also heard people suggest that you get one paper per person in your household plus an extra paper. So if you have 4 family members, you would buy 5 papers.

How many do you purchase and why?

How to use Amazon to “Coupon to Disney”

Posted: 11 Jan 2011 01:55 PM PST

I love Amazon.com. It is like the Walmart of the internet. They have just about anything and everything and constantly have great deals!

How can you use Amazon to “Coupon to Disney“?

  • If you are a mom, join Amazon Mom and get free 2-day shipping on almost EVERYTHING!
  • Check Amazon’s price before you buy the item somewhere else. Amazon isn’t always cheaper, but it is always worth checking.
  • If you have items that you want to buy eventually, but them on your wishlist. You can check it a few times a week to see if the price has dropped (an alert will be posted at the top of the wishlist page)
  • Amazon has a ton of free MP3s and their MP3 albums are usually cheaper than elsewhere.
  • If you love books, you will love the 4 for 3 special they run. I love a GREAT deal on early reader books.
  • And if you like to read, make sure you download the Kindle app to your computer, iPod or phone. They have over 1000 free Kindle books and are constantly updating with new books.
  • Everyday Amazon has special sales they call Lightning sales. These sales are usually a deep discount and are only good for a few hours. So make sure you watch those for items you want/need!
  • Magazines are often on sale on Amazon. You can get popular subscriptions for as low as $5.
  • When Christmas comes, you will find many jaw dropping deals on Amazon. So make sure you watch those prices for items on your list!
  • Be sure to read the Couponing to Disney getting started guide!

I post many of the hot Amazon deals that I find. If you happen to find one, be sure to send me an email and let me know!

Be sure to check out all the current Amazon.com deals.

Don’t forget that you can earn gift cards with Swag Bucks to spend on Amazon!

How to Coupon to Disney with Swag Bucks!

Posted: 11 Jan 2011 01:50 PM PST

Search & Win

How to use Swag Bucks to Coupon to Disney:

  • Follow the steps below to earn with Swag Bucks
  • Cash your Swag Bucks in for Amazon.com gift cards. Use these to pay for items you were planning on buying anyways. Instead of paying cash for the item, use your Amazon.com gift cards to pay and take that amount out of your budget and put it in your fund! (For example: If you were buying a book for $5, you would use your $5 Amazon.com gift card to pay and take $5 cash out of your budget and put it in your fund.)
  • Save the gift cards for Christmas! (That’s what I usually do.)
  • Be sure to read Getting Started “Couponing to Disney”

What is Swag Bucks?

Swag Bucks is a search engine that awards you in the form of Swag Bucks (points that can be traded in for prizes.) You can chose from a variety of prizes including gift cards. My favorite is a $5 Amazon.com gift card. It costs 450 Swag Bucks.

You get 30 Swag Bucks for joining and can win anywhere from 20 – 50 Swag Bucks a day if you search until you win in the morning and in the evening. I usually win within my first 5 searches. They also have Swag Codes out at least 5 times a week that can be worth 10 – 30 Swag Bucks. I always notify you of them on my blog when they are available.

To sign up, go here. Your account will be credited 30 Swag Bucks just for joining!

Here is how to earn more Swag Bucks:

Search

The key is to use Swag Bucks as a replacement for your current search engine. Use it frequently. One tip is to use it to visit websites. The second most popular source of traffic on my blog is via the Swag Bucks search engine because my readers are searching Couponing To Disney in the Swag Bucks search box to visit my website.

Swag Codes

Swag Codes are bonus codes that you enter in the “Enter Your Swag Code” box on Swagbucks.com’s home page. When I know that there is a Swag Code out, I post a message here on the blog as well as on my Facebook and Twitter pages.

Swag Codes can vary in value. The most I have seen is 30 Swagbucks and the least I have seen is 3. But it’s nice to earn a bonus.

Follow Swag Bucks

Be sure to read their blog, and become a fan on Facebook and Twitter. They release Swag Codes on these media outlets.

Use the Swag Bucks Toolbar

Here’s how:
Go to Swagbucks.com and look down the menu on the left side.
Click on Toolbars at the bottom of the list.
Download and install the Toolbar.
Use it to search Swag Bucks, keep track of your earnings and more!

Use the Swag Bucks toolbar everyday and you will earn at least 1 bonus Swag Buck a day! Plus there are often exclusive Swag Codes released on the toolbar.

Take Surveys

Swag Bucks just introduced surveys as a way to earn extra Swag Bucks. To find what surveys are available to you, visit Swagbucks.com and look for the Trusted Surveys option under Quick Links on the left side.

You will win 1 Swag Buck a day just for visiting the Survey page!

Submit a Poll to Swag Bucks

Swag Bucks has a weekly poll. If you submit a topic and they use it, they will reward you with bonus Swag Bucks! You will find the Polls on the left hand menu of SwagBucks.com.

You will win 1 Swag Buck a day for voting in the daily poll!

Complete Special Offers

Here’s how:
Look across the top of Swagbucks.com for the Ways to Earn option.
Select Special Offers from the drop down box.
Complete any that appeal to you. (I do not do any unless they’re free.)

Mega Swag Bucks Friday

Every Friday Swag Bucks offers a higher denomination of Swag Bucks to winners. Instead of the typical 10 – 30, you might win 50, 100 or more! Just by doing the searches you would do on a normal day!

Shop through Swag Bucks

Swag Bucks offers you bonus bucks when you go through their website to do your shopping.

Just go to SwagBucks.com and click on Ways to Earn at the top. Then click on Shop and follow the instructions.

Print your coupons through Swag Bucks

You will earn 10 Swag Bucks for every coupon that you print and redeem at your local grocery store. Keep in mind that it can take 8 to 12 weeks after you use the coupon for it to show up in your Swag Bucks account.

These coupons are identical to Coupons.com. If you print them on Swag Bucks, you won’t be able to print them there.

To know which coupons you printed from Swag Bucks, put a dot on the back of the coupon. That’s what I do!

Trade In Old Electronics

Swag Bucks has a trade in program for your used electronics. Just go to SwagBucks.com and click on Ways to Earn at the top. Then click on Trade In and follow the instructions. (I do not do this. If I chose to trade in, I would go through Amazon, Walmart or Targets program that gives higher amounts in gift cards.)

Earn 50 Swag Bucks on your birthday

All you need to do is make sure that your birthday is in your account details. To get there, click on the drop down box at the very top right corner of Swag Bucks (mine says Hi, Kristin) and select Account Details. You will then see the spot to put in your birth date.

Swag Bucks for Pictures and Videos

If you send them a picture of you with your prize or a video of you unboxing your prize, you get bonus Swag Bucks. You get 10 Swag Bucks for each prize photo and 20 swag Bucks for each video. You are limited to 5 of each type. Email it to prizephoto@swagbucks.com.
(Thanks Who Said Nothing In Life Is Free???)

Refer your friends

Swag Bucks has an awesome referral program. Refer your friends to Swag Bucks and when they win by searching, you win the same amount! (That means if your friend searches and wins 20 Swag Bucks, you will get 20 Swag Bucks too! You only win from their searches and there is a limit of 1000 Swag Bucks per referral. After they reach 1000 Swag Bucks, you will no longer receive credit.) There is no limit to how many friends you can refer.

To find your referral link, go to Swagbucks.com and click on promote and then select Invite Friends and Earn.

And the best part… Cashing in for prizes!

My absolute favorite prize is the Amazon.com gift card. They offer 3 different denominations ($5, $25 and $50. $5 is the best value, followed by $50 and then $25). You can get 5 of each a month. You are limited to only requesting 2 prizes a day, so to max out on Amazon gift card it takes 7.5 days.

Here’s how it works:

On Swagbucks.com home page, click on Rewards.
Then select Swag Store.
Then click on Rewards and Gift Cards.
Look for the Amazon.com gift cards.
Select the one you want and click redeem.
You will have to verify your purchase via email.

How to redeem your Amazon.com gift cards:

When you receive your gift card codes, here is how to add them to your Amazon.com account.
Go to Amazon.com.
Click on Your Account in the top right corner.
Look for Gift Cards located in the Payment box.
Select this option: Apply a Gift Certificate/Card to Your Account.
You will see a box that says “Want to redeem a new gift card?”
Enter the code that Swag Bucks gave you for the gift card and click Redeem Now.
That gift card is now stored in your account as a balance. You can store as many gift cards as you want, it just adds them to the balance.
When you check out, it automatically applies your gift card balance to your order. (You can select for it not to).

Here’s an example of how it would work. You select a $50 gift card from Swag Bucks. You receive the gift card and follow the above instructions to add it to your Amazon.com account. You decide to purchase an item that is $30. You go through check out and it applies $30 of your gift card balance. You now have $20 left on your gift card balance. It will automatically be used to pay for your next purchase. It’s that easy!

If you have any questions or you found another way to earn Swag Bucks, let me know!
