Debris Flow Hazards in the United States

Debris flows are fast-moving landslides that occur in a wide variety of environments throughout the world. They are particularly dangerous to life and property because they move quickly, destroy objects in their paths, and often strike without warning. USGS scientists are assessing debris-flow hazards in the United States and elsewhere, and developing real-time techniques for monitoring hazardous areas.” Quoted from the USGS Fact Sheet.

Alaska Governor, Sean Parnell, is proposing reduced taxes on energy companies. He would like to see lower taxes on all oil and gas production and even lower taxes when those resources are produced from newly discovered fields. He wants to encourage investment and job creation.
